Echocardiography Services for Pets

At Mountain View Veterinary Hospital, we offer echocardiography services to help diagnose heart conditions in pets.

Echocardiography is a non-invasive diagnostic tool used to evaluate the structure and function of the heart. Our experienced veterinarians and trained staff use the latest equipment to ensure your pet receives the highest quality care.

During an echocardiogram, a small ultrasound probe is placed on the chest wall over the heart. This allows us to see detailed images of the heart’s structures and function in real time. We can assess the heart chambers’ size, the heart walls’ thickness, and the heart valves’ function. This information helps us to diagnose heart conditions such as congestive heart failure, valve disease, and heart muscle disease.

Echocardiography is a safe and painless procedure that usually does not require sedation. The procedure takes approximately 30-60 minutes; your pet can go home the same day. After the procedure, our veterinarians will review the results and discuss the findings with you.

If your pet is showing signs of heart disease, such as coughing, lethargy, or difficulty breathing, echocardiography may be recommended to help diagnose the problem. Early detection and treatment of heart conditions can help improve your pet’s quality of life and increase its lifespan.
